AWOL events are women-only events.
Friday September 13th @ 6 PM – 8 PM – AWOL Hike – Feeling lucky?? Come out on Friday the 13th to Medway Valley (http://www.ontariotrails.on.ca/trails/view/medway-forest) in northwest London. Meet in the Tim Horton’s parking at Sherwood Forest Mall (Wonderland/Gainsborough Roads) and we’ll walk to the trail from there. This trail includes hilly sections so please come prepared with good footwear and walking poles would be a great asset. Unless lightning and thundering, this event will take place. Evening hikes are most interesting as this is the time of day when diurnal (active by day) creatures are still out and nocturnal ones start to stir! Feel free to bring your binoculars, camera and a water bottle for this interpretive hike along the trail. Please RSVP to Kathleen at firstname.lastname@example.org by Wednesday September 11th if you’d like to join us. Any changes/updates to our plans will be sent to those who RSVP.
Saturday September 14th @ 6 PM – AWOL Bonfire and Chili Cookout –Ready for round 2?? Come on out or back (if you joined us in June). This is one of our most popular events where we feast, converse and experience the great outdoors together as signs of autumn are in the air. Since this will be weather-dependent and will NOT take place if it’s rainy, please RSVP to Kathleen email@example.com by September 12th if you’d like to attend. We will provide meat chili, beef wieners and marshmallows. Please bring food to share (salad, food tray or cold casserole are ideal) BYOB, chairs, and other type of food (if preferred) to put on a skewer. We’re so excited to welcome you all again!
Saturday October 5th @ 10 AM – 4 PM – AWOL Apple- and Pumpkin-Picking Outing – Meet in the Tim Horton’s parking lot at Wonderland Rd S and Southdale (NW corner). Some may opt to carpool and for the rest, we’ll drive caravan-style down to Great Lakes Farms in Port Stanley (https://www.greatlakesfarms.ca/new-page) where we can pick our own apples or buy them already picked. Then we’ll head to Mackies in Port Stanley to buy lunch. Then we’ll drive Aylmer to Clovermead Adventure Farm for their Pumpkin Festival! Details may be found at https://www.londontourism.ca/Events/Pumpkin-Festival. For those with a tight timeline, it’d be best to drive yourself. For others who wish to meander, there’s an approximate wrap-up time of 4 PM to finish our adventure! Please RSVP firstname.lastname@example.org by October 3rd. Please note that there’s no rain date since Clovermead is NOT open on Sunday. We will communicate by 8:30 AM by email with those who’ve sent their RSVP, if there is a revision/cancelation to our outing.
